Gardenalia

We drove north to a farm sale selling rusty farm equipment....I do love placing old pieces in a country garden. We bought a huge old heavy wheel

and half an old plough

dusk

the garden is over run with rainbow lorikeets

we have netted the nectarine and apricot trees having lost all the cherries to the lorikeets

 roses,foxgloves and delphiniums

the heatwaves have finished the spring roses so they have all been pruned and ready for summer blooms in about 3 weeks

late roses

Jubilee Cake with lemon icing

I piled spare baubles with  starfish shells and lights in a huge vase

  1. What is the difference between a parakeet and a lorikeet, I wonder? No matter - what lovely pests! The wheel is fabulous as are your gardens, fruit eaten (stolen) or not!

  4. Lorikeets! So colorful! Wish they were here in Oregon but too cold for them. Such a lovely garden. Ours are in winter mode, which means pretty much gone. Those are some chubby chickens.

  7. The rusty old wheel adds another element to the garden Meg, just love it. The garden is looking lovely this time of the year too, just hope the Summer is not too hot. Birds too, are nice in the garden but can become a nuisance when you have fruit trees so netting them does become the norm. Thanks for sharing your home and garden.....Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas.

  17. As always Meg, you strike just the right balance between Festive and Genteel. Those lorikeets are naughty, aren't they? They feast on our Umbrella Trees here, and make an amazing racket! I've featured your post at Five Star Frou-Frou this week. Thanks again for sharing and Merry Christmas....Mimi xxx
